Spin IT Thursday Night Stream

The Spin IT Thursday Night Stream is our way of getting you, our readers, music in bulk rather than just one track at a time. Usually, we post artists who provide a free download link to their music or music videos or live performances, but that's what is different about the Stream. Every Thursday night, I post 10 tracks of my choosing that I found around the blogosphere over the course of the week.

Anything with the Download icon next to it is yours if you want it. Stream as you please.

[VIDEO] Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Sacrilege

Via the original Vimeo poster, meankat:
A fan made music video for the song "Sacrilege" from Mosquito by Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The clips are from the 1999 french film "Romance." I own no rights to this song or movie. This is done as an experiment.
It complements the track really well, and probably more importantly, it gives Spin IT a great excuse to post the recently released Yeah Yeah Yeahs track that we forgot to include in the Stream last night.

[VIDEO] Flosstradamus - Look at the Sky (Feat. Deniro Ferrar)

Track's an older one, but the new visual for it is pretty cool. Check it out below:

And for those of you who just weren't feeling Deniro Ferrar, here's the instrumental:

[VIDEO] Springtime Carnivore - Collectors

"I am a traveler, and my highways are circuit boards leading to you. You don’t know me, but long ago in another age, we dined together in a ballroom in Versailles. I was the girl in the green evening gown and the shattered glass slippers. You kissed my hand. We were lovers once. We met in the park; on a pier; in the first-class cabin of the Titanic. We sank with the ship. I have written songs about all this and other things too. I hope you enjoy."  - SC

Brief aside: Sorry about missing the Stream this week, guys. Rest assured, it will be back in full force for next week!

Anyway, if you like what you hear, be sure to head over to Springtime Carnivore's bandcamp for more.

[DOWNLOAD] Daughter - Love (Zebra Safari & Synkro Edit)

Via Pigeons and Planes:
Daughter‘s “Love” is a slow-building, heavy, haunting track. The Synkro edit drags the song into an even deeper place and now this Zebra Safari edit takes Synkro’s edit “a few steps further,” the Swedish duo explains on their Soundcloud page. Bringing in a pounding, guttural low-end and skittering hi-hats, Zebra Safari’s atmospheric, updated trip-hop vibe would be hypnotizing if not for that brain-rattling bass. So far they’re two for two when it comes to delivering great late-night headphone music.
I was a fan of the original track by Daughter, but I hadn't really done much in the way of keeping up with edits of it before. For mixes that stem from the same song, you'd be mistaken in thinking that they sound alike. Although the original isn't available for download, if you like what you hear from Zebra Safari, download IT. Synkro can also be downloaded via its widget below.

Joey Badass Hypes "Next Project"

my next project is complete.... only thing it's missing is this oneeee beat from Kirk Knight that he won't let me have :(
— oG $wank. (@joeyBADASS_) February 22, 2013

this new project is shitting on '99 so hard.... my best work thus far
— oG $wank. (@joeyBADASS_) February 22, 2013

Although the release date for his new mixtape has yet to be announced, Bada$$ has already publicly called upon some big names to work with him, laying down a track with the Alchemist and being recorded in the studio with the legendary DJ Pete Rock earlier in the week.

Getting a beat from Kirk Knight would add another element of eclecticism to what is already a promising prospective album. He's worked with the Pro Era before, so I'll let the Capital STEEZ track produced by Knight below do the talking for me.

Bringing the Stream back in style with a new Shlohmo track.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone else see a resemblance between him and Beau Burchell?

This video is pretty terrible, but the song is cool, so we'll give it a pass.

There really is no artist quite like Drake. He makes shitty music, but the remixes that other artists make with that shitty music are almost always awesome. It's uncanny.

Downtempo set to a clip of Shaq's best moments in Blue Chips? Spin IT heaven.

Damn kids with their loud garage rock bands and funny names.

Dream pop.

YouTube comment of the week: "I'm super stoned, and I just realized when this song came on, that life actually is about doing anything that makes you feel good inside. In that way you will go on every day doing the things that you always wanted the most and those that make you happy. It can be anything. This song just makes me feel super good at the moment. Man, your'e a star." ... Inspiring.

In the time that I left, Phoenix decided to come back with their first new song in years.

[DOWNLOAD ALBUM] Jaymee Franchina & Jeremy Smith - B.I.G. Flume

Having been rendered incapable of posting the Thursday Night Stream this week (don't worry, it will be back for next week), I felt like I owed any of the music followers on here something great for the weekend to make up for the Stream's absence.

Enter Australian DJs Jeremy Franchina and Jeremy Smith.

The duo released a mash-up album that is sure to evoke love, hate, and every emotion in between from the hip hop fans that it reaches because, while many will embrace it as a fresh tribute, hip hop purists are sure to stick their noses up at it.

What happens when you combine the classic flow and brilliant lyricism of classic hip-hop icon Biggie Smalls with the eclectic synth loops of electronic artist Flume?

Well, this.

Want the full album? Download IT via the artists' Bandcamp.

[VIDEO] Mikky Ekko - Pull Me Down

Spin IT cannot tell a lie. Our love for this track and our reason for posting it is due more to our love for Clams Casino than Mikky Ekko. The fact that Ekko and RCA released a video for it a few days ago also gives us a proper excuse to post about it now.

It should be noted that Mikky's getting around better than Clams these days. He's gotten some solid exposure from "Pull Me Down" since its release a few months ago and, shortly after, signed with RCA Records. The guy was not only featured in but wrote a hit Rihanna song.

The Top 40 world is not one that Spin IT often ventures into, so while you aren't likely to see much more of Ekko on our site, I'm sure you'll hear the name every where else very soon if you haven't already.

Electric Nerves :: Love Letters B-Side from Paul Chin on Vimeo.

"To you who inspired these thoughts, sentiments, desires, feelings, and hopes: Wherever you are, however you are, I still don’t have all the answers but I still believe."

I'm pretty much convinced that Holly Miranda and Zola Jesus are somehow blood relatives.

I spent the majority of my day humming this song to myself; I only caught a few stares because of it.

I shouldn't enjoy this video as much as I do.

Remix of the week.

Inspirational YouTube comment of the week via junkegable: "I am so high right now, and this song just made everything clear and now I know what to do." And after a half an hour of serious contemplation, he finally decided to order himself a pizza.

Badass main guitar riff.

This one may not be for everyone, but man does it get me pumped. As Earmilk put it: "Every second is a turn of a kaleidoscope channeling through vibrant strokes of percussion, bass and electronic distortions."

Phaseone has basically worked his way into the Stream as a regular. As long as the dream/synth pop (potential) mogul keeps producing tracks like this, Spin IT will keep putting him on.

You will read their shitty magazine... You MUST read their shitty magazine!

Have a happy Mardi Gras, peeps. See you all next week ;)

[DOWNLOAD] Wolf Saga - Homage to Tron: Legacy EP

Pop cultural media obsessions... We all have at least one.

Draw back unto your favorite episode of your favorite tv show that you've seen 100 times or the songs that you replay over and over in your car, and you'll be able to better relate to what I'm talking about.

If you're anything like Wolf Saga, maybe it's a movie. If you're even more like Wolf Saga, maybe that movie is Tron: Legacy.

If you're even more like Wolf Saga, you're probably even more specifically infatuated with Daft Punk's soundtrack provided for the film, and if you are Wolf Saga, you created a dark, synthpunk 3-track EP as homage to your obsession.

The track below is entitled "Conflict Pt. 1."

For the other track and the remix of "Conflict Pt. 1", dl the rest of the EP below.

Nosaj Thing - Home [ALBUM STREAM]

A couple of weeks ago, we posted the full stream to Toro Y Moi's new album, which was released on January 22nd. In my anticipation of the album, I ended up overlooking an equally impressive, though slightly different, artist's new album.

Jason Chung, aka Nosaj Thing, released "Drift" back in 2009, and since then, the glitch hop producer has worked with the likes of Kid Cudi and Kendrick Lamar and remixed the likes of Radiohead, the xx, Portishead, Flying Lotus, and many others.

On January 22nd of this year, like Toro, Nosaj released his third album, "Home." Nosaj Thing actually has a song on the album that features Toro Y Moi, and ironically, it is arguably better than anything on Toro Y Moi's "Anything In Return."

I'll start you guys off with that track, and for the rest of the album, go here. To those of you not looking to shell out $10, while it would be very easy for me to post a download link on here, it would be illegal to do so. I encourage you to do all that you can to buy the album for its modest price of $10 rather than simply illegally downloading it through any one of the numerous torrent websites that it's currently available on... Catch my drift?

Spin IT Thursday Night Stream: Best of January [ONE NEW TRACK]

The Spin IT Thursday Night Stream is our way of getting you, our readers, music in bulk rather than just one track at a time. Usually, we post artists who provide a free download link to their music or music videos or live performances, but that's what is different about the Stream. Every Thursday night, I post 10 tracks of my choosing that I found around the blogosphere over the course of the week.

For this week's edition, although there is one new track that can be found at the very end of the post, I'll be compiling a list of the ten best tracks that Spin IT has put up over the last month. Expect these "best of" lists to be done on the last Thursday of each month.

Enjoy!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No word on a new album from Washed Out as of yet, so while this isn't a lead single or anything like that, I think we'll all take whatever new music from him that we can get.

Happy February!

[UPDATED] Lil B Tries to Diss Joey Badass; Still Sucks

The beef stems from the now deceased Capital STEEZ telling the "Based God" not to "quit his day job" on a track entitled "Survival Tactics" by Joey Bada$$ that was released almost exactly a year ago.

It took Lil B a while, but he's finally fired back at the Pro Era who wronged him... Well, to the best of his ability, which really isn't saying much. Cute false bravado, but no cigar.

Truthfully basedgod, your not worth the time.. Im glad eye was tho.. Keep bangin
— oG $wank. (@joeyBADASS_) January 29, 2013

A lil offended that he didnt go harder than that..
— oG $wank. (@joeyBADASS_) January 29, 2013

[UPDATE] What's the difference between the two rappers? It took Joey less than half of a day to respond to Lil B... And he does an infinitely better job.

[VIDEO] Grizzly Bear - Gun Shy

I didn't love Grizzly Bear's latest album "Shields" by any stretch, as it simply pales in comparison to Veckatimest.

However, there were certainly a few tracks off of the album that really stuck with me. "Gun-Shy" was one of them. Couple that with the fact that Grizzly Bear just have a knack for making awesome music videos, and you have a Spin IT worthy post.

The video came out earlier today. Enjoy, and try not to lose yourself in it!

[VIDEO] The Dirty Projectors - Climax (Usher Cover); King Krule - Octopus

To make amends for not having posted as much music as I'd like to lately, here are a couple of new videos from the past couple of days. The Dirty Projectors Usher cover, of course, went viral. A guy who still hasn't quite hit the big big-time yet is King Krule, formerly known as Zoo Kid, who released an official video for the track "Octopus," featuring a naked octopus lady (?). Both are equally enjoyable in very different ways.

I put the other part of this split 7" up on here a couple of weeks ago.

Props 4 cool, creative namez.

Badass track of the week.

The music is enhanced exponentially by the awesomeness of the video.

Youth Lagoon, we've missed you!

This is a song about trust.

Believe it or not, there's a lot of growing hype around DJ Bonobo. Click play, and you'll see why.

And we'll end on a soft note, as I've grown accustomed to doing with these. Enjoy your weekend and keep coming back for more new music every Thursday. Be sure to check out the rest of the media section as well. I usually post 2 downloads per week.

This is the sound of... something... I can't quite put my finger on it, though. Chet, your thoughts?

Because there's more music coming out of Brooklyn than just hip hop.

Night Cruiser by C-60
Now, go create a montage!

This track sounds like it was produced by LCD Soundsystem's slightly twisted younger brother.

Never saw the video for this before this week. Damn chavs...

Justin Timberlake could have recorded the audio of him taking a shit earlier this week, and I still totally would have posted it here.

Following Justin Timberlake up with Synkro is exactly why I probably shouldn't be allowed to make these playlists... but wutevs.

The fictional story of Hildegard set to badassery.

Well, it appears that JT isn't the only one making a triumphant return to the music scene. Welcome back, Beach Fossil.

Have a mellow rest of your night, folks.
